The path from the source text to the perfect translation

The translation process and our work are not always identical. Providing error-free and understandable source texts is crucial for the quality of the translation.

Therefore, open communication and cooperation between the client and the translation agency are essential. Our project management simultaneously addresses all your requirements and wishes.

Source text and translation memory

First, you send us the documents you want translated. Before we begin the actual translation, we check the source texts for inconsistencies, unclear wording, or layout problems. These can be corrected at this stage.

If you already have translations in the requested target language, we will feed them into our translation memory. Alternatively, you can send us your translation memory directly – if you have one. We will then check it for potential errors, saving you translation costs.

Translation and proofreading services

The translation is assigned via our translation agency's internal database, which includes native speakers from numerous countries. We entrust your project only to the most qualified translators.

Since we carry out the translation according to ISO 17100, we apply the four-eyes principle. During proofreading, a second, independent native speaker checks the translation for errors. A third translator can be brought in upon your request.

Our quality guarantee

High-quality translations strengthen your customers' trust in your product and your brand. That's why our tried and tested quality assurance concept is an integral part of our translation process.

1. Verification of the translation in the Translation Memory System (TMS).
2. Verification by our software, which operates independently of the TMS.
3. Creation of an error report – the Translation Error Report (TER).
4. If the translation does not meet our quality standards: Revision by the translator. 5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 until the translation meets the quality guarantee.

This multi-stage review process, in addition to standard proofreading, ensures the consistently high quality of our translations. When you commission GFT Translation Agency for a translation, you can expect this minimum standard from us.

Have a question?

Simply contact us, and we will schedule a consultation to discuss your project and how we can help bring your vision to life.

The source text should be checked before translation to ensure that:

  • The original text contains short, easily understandable sentences.
  • The source text is understandable, meaning it is written for the target audience.
  • It contains no complex sentences that are difficult for the translator to translate.
  • The source text contains no abbreviations that are incomprehensible to the technical translator.
  • Consistent terminology was used.

This makes the translator's job easier. They have fewer questions, and the quality of the technical translation and the translation memory improves.

When choosing a technical translation service provider, don't just trust the agreed contract and marketing promises. Verify that the standards are actually being met.

  • Does the service provider present the translated source text and the proofreading to the client?
  • Is the editing process documented?
  • What qualifications do the translator and the editor actually possess?
  • Is the text translated before editing, or is it machine translation?

Providing terminology: Yes, of course. We would be happy to provide you with your terminology

upon request . You can receive it along with your translations . We can send you your terminology as a TMX file. If desired, we can also arrange for you to receive the terminology used after each project or translation , or as needed.

There are several factors that can affect the delivery date of your translation .

Preparing some file types is relatively time-consuming, and this is where you, as the client, can take an active role. If PDF files need to be translated, it's a great help to the project manager if you provide the documents in an editable format. Preparing and processing Word files is significantly easier and faster compared to PDFs. During preparation, there's no need to convert them to Word format, and when creating the target language file, there's no need to edit the layout. For Excel files, you can highlight the fields to be translated in yellow, making it easier for the project manager to identify them.

Providing quick and thorough answers to the translator's questions can also significantly shorten the process. If you define a lot of new terminology during product development, sending explanations of new technical terms can save the translator research time.
